Explorart
was founded by Juan Carlos López-Duran, an up-and-coming
Latin American filmmaker, who has been credited on some of
the most highly acclaimed film and television productions
coming from the Venezuelan film industry during the past decade.
Recently he has focused his creative work on directing
and is currently the producer and director of the feature
film "The White Song" and the documentary series
"Soles del Sur", both of which are currently being
produced by Explorart.
In 1997 López-Duran co-founded Cinema SUR, which
rapidly became one of the most influential film production
companies in Latin America. While with Cinema SUR he produced
"A House with a view of the Sea" by Alberto Arvelo
(2000), winner of more than 15 international awards and
recognized as one of the best films ever produced by the
Venezuelan Film industry. He also produced several influential
feature films including "La Pluma del Arcángel"
by Luis Manzo (2000) y "Sangrador" by Leonardo
Henriquez, (1999). In 2000, he developed, produced, and
directed, with filmmaker Alberto Arvelo,, "Los Últimos",
a television drama series that became the highest ranked
Venezuelan TV series of the past decade. In 1997, serving
as a producer for AM Films, López-Duran served as casting
director of the internationally acclaimed film "One
life and Two Trails".
Juan Carlos López-Duran left Cinema SUR in 2001
in order to create Explorart. As President and chief artistic
director of Explorart, López-Durán is currently
producing a number of exciting films and documentary series
for global distribution.
