Source: Explorart LLC Founder of award winning ‘Cinema Sur’ creates new film Production Company: Explorart Films. Monday, July 1, 2002 Juan Carlos López -Durán, the founder and president of Cinema Sur, creates a new independent production company and production house. CARACAS, Venezuela., July 1. After years of international success as President of Cinema Sur, Juan Carlos López Durán announces the creation of Explorart Films, an international production company dedicated to the creation of feature films, documentaries, and television series. The new company, with offices in Venezuela and the USA, will begin development of a series of projects in 2003. About his departure, the former Cinema Sur executive stated “Although Cinema Sur provided me with significant professional and personal accomplishments, it is now the right time to part and establish my own production company. I want to pursue a different type of commercial projects through a different production philosophy”. The filmmaker added, “Within the next 10 years I want Explorart to become the most successful film company in Latin America. We have the talent, business focus, and project pipeline necessary to achieve that goal”. The new company will operate following a balanced production strategy based on traditional studio procedures but with a strong commitment to innovative, independent topics and treatments. Among itsinitial projects, the company will begin development of feature film White Song, biography television series Against the Odds, and adventure series Soles del Sur and Explorers. The initial projects will enter production in 2004 and 2005. The full project pipeline will be announced shortly. In addition to an active original programming division, Explorart Films expects to launch a production house in 2004: Explorart Pro&Post. The commercial venture will provide funding for Explorart Films’ operations. Explorart Pro&Post will be dedicated to offering production services to the international film and advertisement industry wiching to film in the Caribbean and South America. “We have years of experience producing high quality projects on extremely low budgets.
