Source: Explorart LLC Explorart Films announces the start of development of first feature film. Monday, October 13, 2003. Ann Arbor based Explorart Films announces the initiation of development of feature film White Song. ANN ARBOR, Mich. October 13. White Song is an adventure love story taking place within a transient international climbing community at the base of the Andes Mountains. Explorart Films’ first feature is bound to become one of the most ambitious projects to ever come from the Latin American film industry. With a team of exceptional filmmakers, an internationally recognized cast, and the corporate support of Explorart Films, the project is expected to set a new standard for Latin American impendent productions. From the producer of internationally award winning “A House with a View of the Sea”, White Song is an original story focusing on the unique life of the elite international climbing community. “We hope that the project achieves the right combination of action, drama, and astonishing imagery” said, Juan Carlos López Durán, the president of Explorart and future director and producer of the film. “This project will explore uncharted territories for South American films, we are aiming high and have all the tools to succeed”. The development process will be coordinated from Explorart’s offices in Venezuela in 2003 and early 2004. The project will later be transferred to Ann Arbor, Michigan as the company consolidate the legal structures necessary to complete the development package. The company has already initiated conversations with key people within the American entertainment industry, who will guide the development process through production and distribution. “Unlike a Studio, we are not in a position to develop 20 projects and give the green light to only one of them. Instead, we have created an internal pre-development process, during which we evaluate possible projects and set very high standards in determining which projects will reach development… White Song was selected because it represents the right combination of originality and commercial appeal. We are very comfortable that the development package will contain all the necessary components to secure production financing and distribution, and we are confident that the project will move towards production as scheduled in 2005”, López Durán added. The development and pre-production process is expected to last until early 2005 and principal photography is expected to be scheduled for December of 2005 and January of 2006 in Patagonia, Chile.
