Award-Winning Latin American Filmmaker Alberto Arvelo joins the production team of ambitious cinematic project “White Song”.

Director, writer, and producer Alberto Arvelo becomes White Song’s Co-Producer and will work closely with director Juan Carlos Lopez Duran during the film’s early pre-production phase.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Explorart films announced today that director, writer, and producer Alberto Arvelo joined feature film White Song’s team as Co-Producer. Mr. Arvelo will work closely with Juan Carlos Lopez Duran in all creative aspects of the film’s pre-production, scheduled to start in the fall of 2005.

“Alberto brings two decades of production experience to our project. He has a plethora of talents and is one of the most focused and hard working filmmakers I’ve ever known.” said Nestor Lopez, Explorart’s Vice-President and one of the producers of White Song. Mr. Lopez added, “We were looking for a seasoned producer who can provide a strong contribution to White Song’s early creative process. Alberto is definitely the right person for this job and we are delighted to collaborate with him in this ambitious venture”. Mr. Arvelo will begin working with White Song’s director this summer.

Alberto Arvelo leads the new generation of Latin American film directors and has received accolades at the most prestigious international film festivals. He is considered one of the most accomplished film directors and producers in Latin America. His "A House with a View of the Sea", starring Spanish star Imanol Arias, fetched more than 15 international awards, including Best Director at the New York Latino Film Festival and the Miami International Film Festival. His 1997 feature "One Life and Two Trails" won him the New York Film Festival's Best Director award. Arvelo’s previous features also include: "Song of the Mountain”, his first feature-length film, which he wrote and directed at the age of 17, the historical epic “Flames on the Snow” (1986), “La hoz y el forastero” (1998), Habana, Habana" (2004), and feature documentary "Tocar y Luchar" (2005). His television work includes creating, writing and directing the Latin American ratings success "Los Ultimos". Alberto Arvelo is the President of production company Cinema Sur and heads the Film Director workshop at the Venezuelan National Film School. He is currently directing a new feature film titled “Cyrano Fernandez”, a Latin rendition of the master piece “Cyrano de Bergerac”, starting Edgar Ramirez, a rising start who recently made his Hollywood debut by performing with young starlet Keira Knightley in "Domino".


White Song is an adventure-love story depicting the life of a multinational climbing community living in a remote town at the heart of the Andes mountains. The 35mm feature film is poised to become the most ambitious projects to ever come from the emerging Latin American film industry. The film will be directed by up-and-coming Venezuelan director Juan Carlos Lopez Duran. The producers are currently assembling a strong preliminary production team of industry veterans. Casting is being conducted by Judy Henderson C.S.A. Legal representation for the film is provided by New York based Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
