Source: Explorart LLC Explorart Films and world class expedition team Project Summit sign co-production agreement for the production of Explorart’s latest feature documentary: Extremes. Explorart Films acquires the story rights of one of the most prolific expeditionary team in the world. Kinsgton, New York, May 22, 2007. Explorart Films announced today that it has signed a co-production agreement with the members of the Latin American expedition team “Proyecto Cumbre” (Project Summit). Under the agreement, Explorart obtained the exclusive story rights of the team’s past achievements and will coordinate the production of the High Definition feature documentary. Explorart expects to conclude the post production of the film by the Fall of 2007. From Patagonia to Denali, from Mount Everest to the glaciers of Kilimanjaro, the film tells the story of a group of Latin American explorers who defied unimaginable odds to become one of the world’s top expeditionary teams, bringing the flag of their small Caribbean nation to the most remote corners of the earth. Juan Carlos Lopez Duran, Explorart’s president and director of the film spoke of the new venture, “As thousands of Venezuelan’s I’ve followed Proyecto Cumbre’s expeditions throughout the years and lived first hand the joy that their achievements have brought to a region of the world that has experienced so much conflict and division. Proyecto Cumbre brought us together and I am ecstatic that I will have the opportunity to tell the world about this wonderful story”. Marco Tobias, an explorer and leader of Proyecto Cumbre stated, “I am extremely glad to be working as a team to make a film about our experiences. I’ve been moved by [Explorart’s] elegant and honest manner of addressing emotions and life stories. I have always enjoyed sharing with audiences the stories we experienced at the mountains…. I want to share the beauty and encounters we had the privilege of living. I hope this film achieves this goal and reaches those who otherwise would not have access to the wonderful world of mountaineering.” Proyecto Cumbre follows the story of 5 Venezuelan explorers who left the tropics to follow a seemingly unattainable dream: to reach the most remote corners of the globe. The film follows the team from their early expeditions to local tropical mountains, as they trek over the North and South poles, on to the summit Mount Everest. Their achievements have become a cultural icon as their expeditions are dispatched live through radio and television stations to excited fans throughout South America. The team has reached the summit of Vinson (4,897m, Antarctica), Elbrus (5,642), Everest (8,848), Gasherbrum II (8,035), Muztagh Ata (7,542), Shisha Pangma (8,013m), McKinley (6,194), Dhaulagiri (8,167), Kilimanjaro (5,894m, Cho Oyu (8,201), Ama Dablam (6,850m), Pumori (7161m), Korshenevskaya (7,105m), and have completed successful foot expeditions to both the north and the south poles.
