Source: Explorart Films Explorart Films announces successful theatrical release of Beyond the Summit: Jose Antonio Delgado. The film opens to sold out cinemas across Venezuela and is poised to become one of the most successful Venezuelan documentaries of all times. Caracas, January 18, 2008. Explorart Films announced today the theatrical release of Beyond the Summit, a feature documentary Film that presents a unique view of mountaineering through the eyes of Jose Antonio Delgado, an elite world-class mountain climber who tragically died in 2006 during a solo summit attempt of Nanga Parbat at over 27,000 above sea level. “Until his last seconds, Jose Antonio celebrated life, and I believe he continues to celebrate with us, because his death allowed us to truly absorb the ideals that he promotes in this documentary” said Juan Carlos Lopez-Duran, the film’s director. “Jose Antonio teaches us how to fight the absolute fight” added Lopez-Duran. Beyond the summit follows Jose Antonio Delgado as he summits the world’s tallest mountains culminating with his memorable expedition to Nagna Parbat in the summer of 20006. The events that transpired during the following days came together to create a moving story of perseverance, courage, and love. The film was originally conceptualized as a pilot episode for a mountaineering HD television series that was to be presented to major international networks. However, the emotional strength of the project prompted the produces to transform the film into a feature documentary. Beyond the Summit then evolved into a powerful portrayal of mountaineering, not as an elitist activity performed by a few thrill seekers and adventurers, but as a universal philosophy that can teach climbers and non-climbers alike how to truly live life to the fullest. The film was produced by Nestor Lopez-Duran and financed by Explorart Films with private investment capital. It counted with the support of Jose Antonio Delgado’s wife Frida Ayala who served as executive producer and appears in the film as herself. Beyond the Summit will enter the international festival circuit in 2008 and screen at the most prestigious nature and adventure film festivals.
